About
I love the ways sharing our stories can draw us closer to one another. I have always been captivated by personal essays and memoirs, both as a reader and a writer. The highest honor I’ve experienced is being contacted by someone who has been inspired or touched by a piece I’ve published. My work has appeared in HuffPost, Lilith, Tablet, and other outlets.
Sharing my stories onstage and connecting with live audiences brings similar gratification. I have participated in several storytelling events including This Much Is True, Story Lab Chicago, First Person Live, and The Moth.
As an advocate, I educate others about the benefits of genetic screening so they can make informed decisions about family planning. An article I wrote about coping with my younger sister’s death from Tay-Sachs disease, “Dancing with My Sister”, was published in Jewish Chicago Magazine and led to a role speaking with the Sarnoff Center for Jewish Genetics. I recently partnered with JScreen to raise awareness on how to lower the risks of reproductive genetic disease in this article for Lilith.
In my twenties, I became aware of the multiple ways trauma affects my body. I became a Feldenkrais Method practitioner and work with clients to heal patterns of pain and resistance through somatic movement. You can learn more about my Feldenkrais work here.
I live near Chicago with my husband and sons and try to escape the winter weather for warmer destinations whenever possible. My favorite activities include listening to live music and curling up with a book and a cup of hot cocoa.
